Spherical Roller Bearings

Spherical Roller Bearings

When you need smooth rotation with minimal friction while handling shaft flexing and misalignment, trust a ReFast spherical roller bearing. Made for systems handling high loads, our range of spherical roller bearings suits a wide variety of machinery tasks.

Our spherical roller bearings are made for improved operational reliability and service life. This is achieved through the quality materials used and the careful design of each bearing. As a result, you can expect smooth rotation with low friction.

Across our spherical roller bearing collection, we have lots of different types to choose from to perfectly suit your task. This includes:

  • Tapered bore
  • Parallel bore
  • Steel cage
  • Brass cage
  • Roller thrust
  • And more

Our bearings are used in and trusted by numerous industries, from construction and mining to wind turbines and gearboxes.

If a spherical roller bearing isn’t right, or you need a few other bits and pieces too, our extensive range has you covered. For instance, if you’re looking for a bearing that can handle misalignment, our self-aligning bearings are an excellent choice.

Alternatively, our rod end bearings may be suitable for applications requiring articulated movement.

If you’re not sure what bearing would be best, our team is ready to help. With experience in the engineering world and a thorough knowledge of our product catalogue , we can point you in the right direction and answer any questions you may have.

Spherical Roller Bearings: Helping Maximise Uptime and Extend Machinery Service Life

Spherical roller bearings are engineered to perform in some of the toughest industrial environments. Featuring two rows of barrel-shaped rollers and a self-aligning design, they can accommodate heavy radial loads, axial loads in both directions and shaft misalignment without compromising performance. This makes them ideal for equipment operating under high loads, vibration and challenging working conditions.

These bearings are commonly used in mining equipment, crushers, conveyors, vibrating screens, paper mills, agricultural machinery, material handling systems and heavy manufacturing equipment where durability and reliability are critical.

FAQs

What are spherical roller bearings used for?

Spherical roller bearings are commonly used in heavy-duty machinery operating under high loads and harsh conditions. They are widely found in mining equipment, conveyors, crushers, vibrating screens, paper mills, agricultural machinery and industrial processing equipment where reliability is essential.

What makes spherical roller bearings self-aligning?

The outer ring of a spherical roller bearing has a spherical raceway that allows the bearing to compensate for shaft deflection and mounting misalignment. This self-aligning feature helps reduce stress on the bearing and extends equipment service life.

What is the difference between spherical roller bearings and cylindrical roller bearings?

While both support heavy radial loads, spherical roller bearings can also accommodate shaft misalignment and axial loads in both directions. Cylindrical roller bearings generally provide higher radial load capacity but require more precise shaft alignment.

Can spherical roller bearings handle vibration?

Yes. Spherical roller bearings are well suited to applications involving vibration and shock loading, making them a popular choice for vibrating screens, crushers, quarry equipment and mining machinery where operating conditions are particularly demanding.

When should spherical roller bearings be replaced?

Signs of bearing wear include excessive vibration, overheating, unusual noise, lubricant contamination and increased shaft movement. Replacing worn bearings before failure helps minimise unplanned downtime and protects surrounding machinery components.

Are spherical roller thrust bearings different from standard spherical roller bearings?

Yes. Spherical roller thrust bearings are specifically designed to support very high axial loads while still accommodating moderate radial loads and shaft misalignment. They are commonly used in heavy vertical shafts and high-load industrial applications.
